In 1694, along, what is now known as murderers lane – Thomas Baker of Melbury Bubb my ancestor twice (maternal and paternal) was murdered by two robbers.
Thomas died where he fell.
His restless soul still haunts the lane where he died. This story is a Dorset favourite and one of the county’s best known.
