Culloden Moor

The Battle of Culloden was the final confrontation of the Jacobite rising of 1745, a battle fought on the 16th April 1746.
(The last battle fought on English/Scottish soil.)
A few of my ancestors were present on this field of battle (the Scottish side) some fell and my 7th great-grandfather James Gordon Esq of Cobairdy fled in exile alongside Bonnie Prince Charlie. The young prince gifted my ancestor a silver pocket watch chain once owned by Mary Queen of Scots. It has since been returned to the crown and on display in Holyrood Palace.
